The first reading of the Tobacco Retail License Ordinance at Plumas County Board of Supervisors was postponed until ordinance language is clear that it will cost $0.00 for the Tobacco Retail License. With input from county officials, local retailers, and staff, changes from the originally proposed ordinance include:
Linked application approval to compliance with current laws on sales, signage, etc.
Added language that the Department will look for funding to reduce/eliminate the fee.
- Took out language linking fee to the Healthy Retailer Initiative
Increased the 3rd offense fine to $1,500
Automatically renews the license annually for up to five years unless retailer is non-compliant
Clerks under the age of 18 must have supervision from a person 21+ years of age to sell tobacco
TRL would go into effect January 1, 2017
